What's In My Beach Bag

Summer is unofficially here! Today I'm sharing what I keep in my bag when heading to the splash park or to a pool outside of our own backyard. The boys are happiest in the water, and sunshine and pool time is the magic combination for busy days and early bedtimes.

One Shoulder Swim Suit: Oh how I love this suit. It shows just the perfect amount of skin while still being solidly and snugly in place while chasing the kids around. Give me all the stripes.

Crocheted Cover Up: I found this pretty crocheted cover up and it quickly became my favorite.

Turkish Beach Towel: I love Turkish towels to take along to the beach or pool the most. They fold so nicely and take up such a small amount of room, but are still absorbent and comfortable to lay out on.

Essie Nail Polish: I’m obsessed with this color for summer and have been wearing it on both fingers and toes.

Sunscreen: This one is my favorite one. I’ve found that sprays discolor my suits and wear out the elastic. This Ultra Sheer formula goes on thin and smooth and absorbs in an instant.

Behind Closed Doors: This one is on my summer must-read list. A perfect thriller to take to the pool.

Sunglasses: I have this cheaper pair to toss into my beach bag. Still just as cute as my nicer pair, but  not a big deal if they get lost, bent, or broken.

Slide Sandals: These sandals are AMAZING. Perfect for getting wet and dry off almost immediately. So many fun colors to choose from.

Water Bottle : Everyone knows and loves the Yeti. This one keeps water ice cold for hours on end.

Sea Salt Spray: If you have finer hair, this is a MUST HAVE product. I rinse my hair with clean water after being in the pool, towel dry, and spray this in. It creates the best texture and fullness.

Pom Hat: How cute is this? A perfect hat to keep the sun out of your eyes for a great price.

Loving Lately

Happy Monday, friends! I wanted to start this little series to round up, from time to time, things I’m really digging. From recipes to podcasts to small shops to books, I thought this could be a good catch-all to share all things I’m loving lately. Here we go!
Plant ladder and plants from Ikea

  • This olive oil dispenser and these salt and pepper bowls are perfect for leaving right next to the stove, making it so easy to drizzle just the right amount of EVOO in a pan, or to quickly reach for and pinch salt and pepper to season what you’re cooking.
  • I’m sure you’re all already aware, but I’m late to the game. Trader Joe’s Everything But The Bagel seasoning is so, so good. I like it on salads or on breakfast food, but here’s an article to give you even more ideas on how to use it.

  • I’ve started bullet journaling, and love this notebook. This organizes my thoughts, and it’s especially helpful to get all of my to-dos for the next day (or coming week) written out on paper before I go to bed. This way, my head is clear and I have a list to look at when I get up in order to start tackling my day. I also read in a book, and I’m trying my best to implement, slower, more mindful starts to our mornings. This means writing out 3 things you’re grateful for in this same journal and having breakfast together prior to picking up any technology. It doesn’t always go this way, but sometimes is better than never.
  • I love the SWORKIT (free!) app for working out your core. You can set it for any amount of time between 5 mins and 1hr, and the app prompts you and shows you the circuit exercises to perform during that time. It’s such a convenient, easy, quick, and FREE way to work out at home.
  • I love diffusing oils as I start my day, and 3 drops of Orange, 3 drops of Lemongrass, and 1 drop of Peppermint has been my favorite summery combo. I use this diffuser (though I’ve had my eye on this one) and this set of oils, but any will work!
  • You all know that I’ve been listening to the My Favorite Murder podcast (so good!), but I also recently discovered Heavyweight and it’s quickly become another favorite. Here’s a little excerpt on what it’s about: Heavyweight is a podcast all about emotional time travel, and the attempt to pull something stuck in the past into the present. It possesses unquantifiable magic created by the host Jonathan Goldstein. He manages to bring charm and humor to unexpected moments: while helping a woman find out why she was kicked out of her sorority years ago, or locating the person who wrote the letters that fill a suitcase someone has inexplicably been carrying around for years, or assisting a man in finding the driver who hit him so that he can say thank you. Heavyweight doesn’t make you better informed—but it might make you better.
  • And last but not least, I ordered these Gingham pajamas marked down to $31!

Hope some of these bring you some inspiration as you start your week! Hope you all have as happy of a Monday as Monday can be! XO.

Best Outdoor Toys for Kids

It's nice outside, and that's exactly where you'll find us until November! I had a few requests for our favorite outdoor toys, and I put together this little list to keep your kiddos entertained while you get to soak up the sunshine. A win for everybody involved! Our current favorites are water painting, bug catching, and walkie-talkie missions, and there is just nothing sweeter than watching the boys playing together now that August is running and talking right along side of his big brother. And stopping for popsicle breaks in-between, of course.

So first, a summer-ey, sunshiney, picture of these two little frenemies.

And now, a round-up of what we're loving, or what's on our summer wish-list!
